Merry Hertan is a senior at Princeton University in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department on the Architecture and Engineering: Structural Focus track. On campus, she is involved in Outdoor Action, Matriculate, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Her thesis focuses on the Suirokaku Aqueduct in Kyoto, Japan. She will be using BIM to create a model of the aqueduct and then will conduct a finite element analysis of the structure. She hopes to determine what restorations of the aqueduct are necessary.
