Registrar description

Environmental sustainability is a challenge for engineers and society to overcome. This course focuses on how environmental biotechnologies are impacting sustainability efforts in a variety of sectors including water systems, food and chemical production, and infrastructure construction. This course provides a foundation in biological design concepts across scales from molecules to ecosystems and the ethical implications of engineering biology for use in the environment. Lab techniques covered in the course include nanopore sequencing, contaminant measurement using biosensors, and biofabrication of living materials.
